Since we're moving back East soon, I decided to dedicate this blog to all my favorite places (and people) in Seattle.
I’m gonna start with restaurants, because you know, food, and I love to eat! And I don’t mess around when it comes to good food. These are my top choices, but really there are SO many amazing places here to eat. And I’m sure as soon as I press publish, I’ll think of 2 more to add to the list!
Stone Burner- Make sure to order the smoked tuna dip (seen below) and charred broccoli. Tons of other delicious things, but those 2 are my favorite! In Ballard.
San Fermo- The sweetest (and yummiest) little restaurant. I ate pheasant here for the first time and it was delicious. I recommend sitting cozying up at the 4 seater bar in the back. Ballard.
Hot Cakes- Always the last stop of the evening. Decadent (GF/DF) molten chocolate cakes with vegan vanilla ice cream from Frankie & Jo's (featured below). Ballard! So many delicious reasons to go to Ballard, right??
Ballard Farmer’s Market- The best way to spend a Sunday morning. Open year round.
Okay, leaving Ballard now...
Firefly Kitchens - Super small company in Fremont that makes the most delicious kraut. Literally, their Emerald City Kraut tops my eggs every morning. AND they offer fermentation classes, which I wrote about here. Why kraut? Because it always (always!) comes back to the gut!
Tanaka San- Located downtown. Order the green man cocktail (featuring a gigantic green tea ice cube) and an order of griddled rice cakes.
Frankie & Jo’s- Vegan ice-cream with seasonal (and really unique) flavors. My favorites are date shake and California Cabin. Oh, did I mention they have GF ice cream cones?? Capitol Hill
General Purpoise- Not GF or DF, but super delicious donuts. Bring your laptop, order a donut and a cold brew and settle in at the sweet table up the stairs. Warning, they are only open until 3pm and do sell out! Capitol Hill, right next to Frankie & Jo's!
Omega Ouzeri- Greek food in a beautiful fresh, crisp space. Everything is great, especially the cocktails. And the food. And the service! Capitol Hill.
Japanese Garden- Located in the Arboretum. One of my MOST favorite places in Seattle.
Kaira Jorgenson, L.Ac. THE most amazing acupuncturist ever. Seriously. She’s in Bellevue. And easily in my top 3 things I’ll miss the most when I leave. Seriously.
Dr. Kim, Chiropractor Located in Issaquah. Straightens me out!
Splendid Avenue- Scandanavian/European Lifestyle shop owned by a good friend of mine, Monika (seen smiling below). Located in Gilman Village, Issaquah. Not only does the store feel good to be in, but there are so many fabulous things to choose from.
I couldn't dedicate a blog to Seattle without mentioning the hiking, of which there are just so many amazing trails to explore. My favorite though is Ira Springs Trail in North Bend. The trail to Mason lake is beautiful, but even better is to stay left at the junction and head up Bandera Mountain. It's no joke of a climb, but so completely stunning at the top. #getoutside
My fav (local) online accounts to follow on IG.
Simply Real Health- Simple, delicious, real food (5 ingredients or less). She also features great natural skin care products and other lifestyle goodies.
Katherine Metzelaar- Brave Space Nutrition- Nutrition Therapist. Intuitive eating.
Kristen McCormick- Running With Forks- Fitness, nutrition, and lifestyle.
Anna Clausen Williams- Fitness expert and mental health advocate.
Live Simply By Annie- Professional organizer and simplified living expert (maybe my dream job??). Her husband, David Axelrod is a photographer and travel writer, and is pretty awesome to follow as well, especially his IG stories.
There you have it! What did I miss? Got any favorites I need to check out before I head to Pennsylvania? Let me know!
